JUNE 2002
Anorak Hour Nr 310 b/c 2nd June 2002

Not for the first time in his career, Steve Conway was called upon to steady a rocking ship, which this week was caused by Ger Roe's holiday break!
The show looks particularly at the UK pirate scene of the mid-80s, extensively focusing on London's South East Sound and - via their own Anorak Hour style programme - the UK scene at that time.
Then, Caroline reports on the eurosiege against Laser 558.
Then, back to South East Sound who were also forced off the air at that time.
Finally, a bonus with the forgotten Dutch offshore station Radio Monique and their 6pm sign-off.
Pete Reed then presented this week's news.

Anorak Hour Nr 311 b/c 9th June 2002

This week's show goes back to the mid 80s for a sample of Greg Gaughren and Q102, then the man again with his present employers.
A sample from Pulse 103FM from July 31st 1998 follows. Then, you asked for it...The Jam Jingles song.
Another recent request to the programme was for Sunshine's midnight song, and that is given an airing, along with a selection of Sunshine jingles.
Jam on 88FM in the 90s is sampled, before the archives section concludes with San Francisco station KOME FM
Eventually, Pete Reed then presented this week's news.

The whole country came to a standstill as Ireland played Spain in the World Cup, but workhorse Ger Roe still turned up at Phantom FM's studios to present the show, which this week (cleverly) had long features on Radio Essex; and an excerpt from Radio Days, RTÉ's documentary looking at radio of the past as the country's first batch of licensed independent stations were about to launch.
Pete Reed then presented this week's radio news and, a little bonus, live football updates too! (For the record Ireland were awarded ANOTHER penalty in the final minute, scored it but eventually lost on...yep, penalties!).

Anorak Hour Nr 313 b/c 23rd June 2002

Eighties recordings featured heavily in this week's show. Sunshine's chart show 'Sunshine Survey' from June 1983 was first up; then, just before he departed for Century Radio, Marty Whelan counts down the UK's Top 40 on Radio 2FM in 1989; then a trip to the North Sea for two special anniversaries in 1985, but first up from the Ross Revenge - a warning. Then a recording made on the Radio Caroline's 21st Anniversary featuring John Lewis reminiscing about another well-known station! Then Laser 558 celebrates one year on air with Ric Harris, who is then sampled during his time with Radio Nova back in Dublin on July 31st 1985. Finally in the archives section, Paul Lee on air in 1999 with ABC 94FM.
Pete Reed then presents this week's news.

Anorak Hour Nr 314 b/c 30th June 2002

Long-running pirate Radio Caroline Dublin is featured first this week with recordings and an interview with station manager Bobby Gibson from July 1998.
Then Tony Dixon departs from ESG FM back in 1999.
Offshore nostalgia follows with some RNI during their RSL broadcast from 1999, followed by the original: a jingle package and then Don Allen tells a drifting tale about Radio Northsea International back in February 1973.
Forward in time and evening output from Drogheda's Boyneside Radio is sampled from 1986.
Finally, a report from Dublin in 1983 by a visitor!
Pete Reed then presents this week's news.
