THE ANORAK HOUR |
Phantom FM's Anorak Hour
The Anorak Hour originally ran for 7 years on Dublin alternative pirate music station Phantom FM and then for 6 months only when the station eventually returned with a full licence. It featured airchecks and jingles from Irish and worldwide radio of the past and present and it was last broadcast live (pirate) on FM in May 2003 at 1pm (Irish time). Overseas listeners could tune to Dublin shortwave pirate Ozone Radio to hear the show relayed on a week's deferral.
The Anorak Hour was presented by Ger Roe (pictured) - who has been involved with Dublin radio for many a year - and Pete Reed, whose claims to fame include '90s Dublin pirate Coast 105FM.
In between the demise of the pirate station and the return with a full licence, The Anorak Hour was over-hauled and retitled 'Media Beacon' when Phantom were awarded two temporary licences, each spanning 14 weekends, the first from October 2003. Media Beacon is now available on demand at this site. The licensed version of the show also ran on demand at Radiowaves.FM and will be archived here soon. Obviously, if anybody has any copies of earlier shows, please get in touch. |
